The Umm Al Houl Beach Development Project aims to become a global example in sustainable development by creating social and economic impact while enhancing the natural environment, protecting ecologically valuable habitats and restoring degraded habitats. In pursuit of high environmental ideals, the Umm Al Houl Beach Development Project will be a “smart” project, using the latest information and communication technologies to improve operational efficiency, share information with its citizens and provide a level of environmental and social responsibility that will contribute to the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainable development. The Umm Al Houl Beach Development Project is located in a coastal area bordered by two cities (Umluj and Al Wajh) on the western coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along the Red Sea. The project is expected to be completed in two phases; the first phase of the Umm Al Houl Beach Development Project includes the development of Shura Island, one of the main islands and the subject of this project. Shura Island is located at the central eastern edge of Al Wajh Lake, about 2 kilometers from the beach with an area of about 420 hectares.
